In His Presence

'The aged, the sorrowing, and the sin-burdened, the children at play in their innocent joy, the little creatures of the groves, the patient beasts of burden, - all were happier in His presence.' (DA74)

'The souls that came to Jesus felt in His presence that even for them there was escape from the pit of sin. Jesus greeted them as children of God, estranged indeed from the Father's house, but not forgotten by the Father's heart. And their very misery and sin made them only the more the objects of His compassion.' (COL186)
Jesus 'awed men by His purity and elevated morality, while His love and gentle benignity inspired them with enthusiasm. The poorest and humblest were not afraid to approach Him.’ (3T422)
'His voice was the first sound that many had ever heard, His name was the first word they had ever spoken, His face the first they had ever looked upon. Why should they not love Jesus, and sound His praise? As he passed through the towns and cities He was like a vital current, diffusing life and joy wherever He went.' (DA350)
'Wherever He was, in the synagogue, by the wayside, in the boat thrust out a little from the land, at the Pharisee's feast or the table of the Publican, He spoke to men of things pertaining to the higher life. The things of nature, the events of daily life were bound up by Him with the words of truth. The hearts of His hearers were drawn to Him; for He had healed their sick, had comforted their sorrowing ones, and had taken their children in His arms and blessed them. When He opened His lips to speak, their attention was riveted upon Him, and every word was to some soul a savor of life unto life.' (COL338)
